Have you ever held or stuffed an emotion?
You were so uncomfortable feeling that feeling…that you made it go away?
What happened to it? Did it simply vanish into thin air?
All emotions are vibratory: they have a natural experience cycle and they can also carry a charge. When an emotion is not expressed, the charge cannot be dispelled; it gets stifled or suppressed, and stored in your energy field. This can occur by choice or without awareness, and any way you slice it – it is a stress to your system.
Beyond emotions themselves (think about the experiential difference between anger and joy) – their energy imprints live on in your field, as they existed in the moment that they were created. They are the vibrations of unfinished business, choices made or not made, and your feelings and thoughts about it all.
Unresolved emotional experiences trap you in the past or project you into the anticipatory future:
- fueling stuckness and rigidity
- feeding cycles of stress and tension
- drawing you away from present moment awareness
- distracting you from seeds of possibility and change that live within

Tanya entered my practice with a goal to find her voice, her authentic self. As we worked together, the first task became clearing the energy from an indoctrinated pattern of words not spoken – to her partner, her family and her colleagues at work.
As the emotional energy cleared, Tanya shifted out of habituated negative self-talk and defeating behaviors, building her confidence, self-regard and self-compassion.
Your Emotional Cache
Over time unprocessed emotions can distort and impact your:
- interactions with others
- beliefs and expectations regarding certain people or experiences
- shaping of your perception of the future, as new emotions, thoughts and stories are generated
Furthermore, just as people naturally gravitate towards others who are like-minded, the same is true with your dominant emotions. They magnetize people to you who have similar emotional patterns!

Melody chose energy work to dial down her anxiety. After a difficult divorce, financial implications arose and Melody worried and perseverated about the problem.
A successful entrepreneur with a growing business and healthy bank account, Melody second guessed most financial decisions. She reached a state of mind where pulling her wallet out of her purse at the grocery store could result in an anxiety attack.
Melody learned to clear the anxiety from her energy body, giving her system a chance to re-calibrate to the comfortable reality of her financial situation.
She also cleared and released the emotional residue from her marriage.
Doing so freed her up, establishing a calm approach to future experiences and endeavors.
You are Empowered
Your emotions are valid, and highly useful data points about your experience with the world around you. However, suppressed emotional energy is a distractor. It diminishes your ability to be fully present, to line up with what’s true for you right now. And to express yourself accordingly.
You (like all of us), have emotions that interfere with your:
- aligned presence
- clear perceptions
- authentic responses
- connection to your internal compass
You can learn to identify unprocessed and unresolved emotions. You can recognize them through their density, the ways in which they generate tension, resistance and impede flow.
Through clearing and energy regulation practices you can heighten your awareness of the presence of stuck emotions, as well as learn to let them gently flow out of your field, and your body.
Clearing emotional energy improves your present experience, releases attachments to the past, and smooths your path forward.
And take it from me – on a personal note – one way to encounter an utterly marvelous lightness of being… is to bid farewell to your energetic rubbish.
